The Wife of the Governor of Enugu State, Her Excellency, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, has reaffirmed her commitment to building a more compassionate, inclusive, and people-centered Enugu during a strategic engagement held with the Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Obi Ozor.
The meeting, which centered on strengthening the ongoing transport reforms in the state, further highlighted Mrs. Mbah’s unwavering dedication to the welfare of all residents especially persons living with disabilities, older adults, women, and young people.
In an emotionally moving reflection shared after the engagement, the Governor’s wife stated:
“I engaged with the Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Obi Ozor, on strategies to strengthen and expand the impact of ongoing transport reforms across the state, aligning with this administration’s vision under the leadership of my beloved husband, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah, for modern and inclusive mobility, particularly in enhancing accessibility, safety, and efficiency for all categories of commuters.
We exchanged insights on initiatives that would make the transport system more accessible to persons with disabilities and older adults. Furthermore, we explored possible areas of collaboration to enhance women’s participation in the sector through awareness, empowerment, and capacity-building opportunities. In addition, we discussed creating more space for our youth through recruitment and meaningful involvement in emerging opportunities within the transport ecosystem.
I commend the Honourable Commissioner for his visionary leadership and commitment to driving sustainable change in the transport sector. With the steps already being taken, Enugu State is steadily setting a new pace for innovation, inclusion, and excellence in public transportation.”
Her statement reflects a profound level of compassion and foresight, qualities that continue to define her public engagements. Mrs. Mbah has consistently used her voice and influence to promote inclusion, support vulnerable groups, and champion reforms that touch the lives of everyday people.
Observers say her conversation with the Commissioner was not merely administrative, it was deeply human. They describe it as a moment where empathy met strategic leadership, ensuring that the most vulnerable commuters, including persons living with disabilities, are not left behind in Enugu State’s ongoing modernization drive.
By prioritizing accessibility, Mrs. Mbah is helping to reshape public transportation into a system where everyone regardless of age, gender, physical condition, or social status—can travel with dignity and confidence. Her vision also expands opportunities for women and youth in the sector, opening doors for empowerment, employment, and meaningful involvement.
